Five dictation habits that make speech-to-text feel instant

Audio coming soon

The fastest way to get clean text out of dictation isn’t to speak slowly — it’s to speak in whole thoughts. Here are five habits that make a noticeable difference.

1. Pause at the thought, not the word

Halting between words confuses the model. Let a full clause land, then breathe.

2. Say the punctuation only when it matters

Modern transcription infers most punctuation. Reserve spoken commands for the ambiguous cases.

3. Front-load the context

Starting with the subject — “the email to Sara about Friday” — gives the model an anchor for everything that follows.

4. Don’t fix mid-sentence

Finish the thought, then edit. Self-corrections mid-stream are where transcripts get tangled.

5. Trust the cleanup

dolfinspeak is built to hand back text you can use as-is. The less you fight it, the faster you go.
